Can I make an electronic copy for use in an e-reserve system? No

You may not include material from this resource in e-reserves, which are electronic copies of articles stored on a secure network, or stored on Avenue, for use by students in connection with a specific class.

The licensee and authorized users may not incorporate parts of the licensed materials into electronic reserve collections (or electronic course readings), which are collections of electronic copies of materials made and stored on a secure network, including a course management system such as Avenue, for use by students in connection with specific courses of instruction.

The licensee may not incorporate parts of the licensed materials into print course packs, which are compilations of materials such as articles and book chapters by an academic institution for use by its students in a class for the purposes of instruction.  Please note that as of the summer 2022 term, couseware is no longer being coordinated by the library.  We are transitioning content to the eReserves program.  If you would like to learn more about this program, please email us at ereserve@mcmaster.ca

You can create a persistent electronic link to an individual article or ebook.  See Linking to e-Resources.

Interlibrary Loan

Is ILL allowed? No

Interlibrary loan is a service whereby users from one library may borrow material from another library via fax, surface mail or courier, for the purposes of research or private study, and not for commercial use.  Geographic restriction may be specified in the license.

The licensee may NOT supply a single copy of an individual document within the licensed materials via the Ariel interlibrary loan software.

Access

Individual  members of the public who are physically present in the licensee’s library may access and use the licensed materials, generally allowed by the license.  Use of the material is restricted to non-commercial use.

Yes:  Alumni of McMaster University are considered authorized users of this resource and may access and use the licensed materials.

No:  This resource for use by current students, faculty, and staff only.

CSA Group hereby grants you a non-exclusive, non-assignable, non-sublicenseable, revocable (on termination of the Agreement) license to use the documents solely for academic, non-commercial purposes. You will be able to view and download the documents at any time through CSA Group’s website provided that your education institution’s subscription or rental agreement has not expired, been cancelled or terminated. You may not permit any third party to view the documents.
